Maya Matlin is the name.

I like my company odd and my music loud.
My life is one of those movies that is a cross between teenage angst, awkward and romantic scenery, and really nice music in the motion picture soundtrack. The main character has a strange liking for a weird skater boy, has a very overachieving older sister, and belongs to a school full of many unique characters. That's all I'm saying, as I do not want to spoil the ending that not even the main character knows.
DISCLAIMER:
I am not Olivia Scriven and/or Maya Matlin. This is a roleplay account. And a smutty one at that, so if you have a problem with sexual writing and photography, I suggest you get your ass off my blog. Toodles.

First Date || Zig & Maya

naughtynovak:

The corner of Zig’s lip curled up into a half-smirk, his eyes fixated on Maya as she took off in a sprint towards the deck. It was unbelievably adorable just how excited she’d gotten over area, not even being able to wait for him before wanting to see it all at a closer range. He held back a chuckle as he began to slowly follow behind her, shaking his head in amusement. “Are you sure you’re older than me, Matlin? Because I’m pretty sure I’m dating a child right now,” he stated in a teasing tone once he reached her. Her comment only made his smirk grow larger as he leaned down to kiss her forehead. “If I walk a little bit behind you then we can be at the same height,” he suggested with a slight shrug of his shoulders. “Or you can suck up the fact that you are, and forever will be, a midget.”

Zig took Maya’s hand and led her to the tip of all the wavy platforms, extremely thankful that there were no docked boats to clutter up the view of the water they had. The water slapping against the docks in a rhythmic motion, the usually annoying birds squawking above them and the small silhouettes of boats out in the lake.. it was surprisingly nice; amidst the city atmosphere they could still have this sort of thing instead of having to go out to their cottages in the middle of nowhere to get it. It was also normally busy with families and tourists and kids running around wreaking havoc so it was peacefully quiet, something that helped pull the mood of it altogether. He gently let go of her hand as he brought both of his upward, resting his forearms lightly against the silver railing. ”I wonder how cold it is down there,” he mumbled mostly to himself, nodding his head down towards the lake’s surface as he clasped his hands together. He knew it wouldn’t have been freezing this late in May, but it definitely wouldn’t have been comfortable enough to want to jump in, either. “And before you get any ideas, let’s not find out how cold it is,” he quickly added on, turning his head back to face her with a grin.

“I think we may have gotten this ‘being a normal couple’ thing figured out tonight, yeah?” Zig asked softly, his question both mocking and innocent at the same time. They really were an odd couple, though it didn’t seem to bother either one of them and that made it okay to him. However he sometimes felt guilty about it, never knowing if parts of Maya wanted to be treated like the majority of girls did in relationships and she just never said anything about it. It was just something he was used to, always doing things and buying things for Tori when he dated her that he’d become accustomed to doing so. His hand slid discreetly into bag and grasped an object all the while keeping his eyes locked on hers. “I know you don’t really expect this kind of thing, or at least I don’t think you do..” he trailed off for a moment, pulling his hand slowly out of the bag. “But I couldn’t help but to notice that before we were officially together I bought you all sorts of stuff and now that you’re actually my girlfriend I’m mostly buying you food.” A light chuckle escaped his lips and he sheepishly glanced down at his feet. He kept his fist closed around the object as he now held it in front of her with his palm facing upwards. “I was going to get the penguin because I thought you may have liked it better because penguins are kind of cute or whatever.. but my mom told me I was an idiot and helped me pick out this instead,” he said with a smile as he opened up his hand to reveal a necklace.

Maya’s little hands clutched Zig’s much larger ones in return to their embrace, following the light pink blush that bloomed against her cheeks at the pair of lips being pressed against her forehead. It was so surreal. Not the scenery, for you could listen to and watch it anywhere; but this feeling that always made her heart ache in the most spontaneous way and her stomach constrict and churn in more directions than the docks they were walking upon… nobody could simply decide to travel downtown and experience it like the wave dock (not that it wasn’t any less magical itself). And this is what made Maya smile all the time; because the way he’d simply hold her hand and walk her anywhere, and any place her feet met the pavement would feel like an entire new universe as long as they were together. The small girl sighed at the loss of him as he walked over to the railings to glance down at the water. She would have followed him, but Maya couldn’t bring herself to even take a glance at it. If she freaked out every time she she took a bath and stuck her head underwater, there was no way she could look down at a lake a few feet below and not imagine herself falling and drowning.

Luckily, the sound of Zig’s voice pulled her out of the thoughts that if delved into deeper, would lead Maya on a negative path that would completely ruin her mood and the date itself. “Trust me, Novak. I don’t want to know how could it is down there as much as you. Water scares the  hell out of me, remember?” She said, taking a deep sigh of reluctance and walking over to stand next to Zig, trying her absolute best to not look down at the water but to keep her concentration centered on him instead. The proximity with the lake caused her heartbeat to accelerate, but the repeated statement of “keep calm” seemed to work for the time being. And hearing her boyfriend’s voice again was working as a good distraction, his words causing a smile that felt almost permanent to flash on her face. “Normalcy was never our style. But yeah, even I have to admit we’re doing a really good job pretending that it is right now.” She chuckled softly, still forcing her glance to go in any direction but south. Maya knew this, she had said it to herself and to many people more times than she could count: her and Zig weren’t the most ordinary couple. Or, they weren’t what the average person would expect in this world.

If you thought from the perspective of somebody taking a first glance and Zig and Maya for the first time. If you knew both of them separately, but never together, then you’d be very confused. Maya on one hand, is awkward. She has a wide variety of odd interests, is known impulsive decision making, mature for her age, tough to gain trust from, and very sharp tongued. And occasionally very pretentious when it comes to comparing herself to people who aren’t exactly the same as her. And Zig on the other hand was a delightfully cute, blunt, and simple skater boy with a knack for never having much to say in a conversation, but is always there to be a nice and logical person in and away from the face of adversity. Two totally opposite people, if you thought about it in that light. You could see Maya bringing up the conversation of a book Zig has never read, and she could go on about it for hours, and he wouldn’t have a clue of what was going on. Annoying some might think, as you would picture Zig preferring to be with one of those spoiled and self centered beauty queens like Tori or a fun and beyond gorgeous girl like Jess. But if you delved deeper, you’d realize that he’d actually be trying to listen. Like Maya, who’d stay up for hours watching whatever skateboarding competitions or documentaries Zig wanted to because she’d knew it’d make him happy though she doesn’t know the first thing about the sport. That made all the difference, because at the end of the day no matter how many times the couple fought or disagreed, both could not deny they were mad about each other. And they would thrive to make it work just for the sake of them being together. At least, that’s how Maya felt. And she hoped that Zig felt the same… or at least somehow similar.

They weren’t normal, and Maya could tell this was unlike any relationship Zig has ever had. Maya had nothing to compare this to, giving that she had never had a boyfriend before. But if she knew one thing, it was that her and Tori were completely different girls for the most part. Which is why, when he pulled out the necklace with half a heart of purple glimmer, Maya was both confused and extraordinarily endeared at first. “You know that I’m not Tori… right? I don’t expect a gift for every time we go out. Your company is more than enough.” She said truthfully, getting up on her tippy toes to place a kiss on his lips that lasted for as long as her toes would allow before she had to lower herself down as they began to hurt. “But regardless, this is really sweet of you Novak. And tell your mom that you are not an idiot. Penguins are cutest things ever.” Maya mused, but began to think twice, “But then again judging by our history, penguins aren’t the most innocent things in the world. So maybe the heart was a better choice.” The freshmen girl then began to let out a fit of small slightly embarrassed giggles, cupping her hands and placing them over her mouth and nose to hide the red tint appearing on the bridge of it, still laughing childishly. This continued for a few more seconds until Maya stupidly looked down to get a full glimpse of the water below, causing her laughing to cease instantly. “Um, I hate to ruin the moment, I really do. But can we step away from the edge?” She asked him, biting on her bottom lip fretfully and looking back up at her boyfriend.
